WHAT

“OVERTHRONE!” is a campaign CYRCLE created over two years ago. They are currently in the process of creating their first body of fine art work “OVERTHRONE! POORING REIGN” within this theme which will open at Stolen Space Gallery in March, 2014. In addition to POORING REIGN CYRCLE will create two other solo shows within the OVERTHRONE concept- “RULERS WERE MEANT TO BE BROKEN” and “SCRAMBLE FOR POWER”.

OVERTHRONE! explores symbols of power and the control they have over our minds. CYRCLE takes these symbols of power and deconstructs them by flipping them upside down, suggesting overthrowing the reigns of power. It is a subliminal call to action… Overthrow the powers of doubt and oppression in the mind so we, the individual, can let go of fear and take power back!

StolenSpace gallery exhibits a genre of work that has been variously labeled as ‘Underground Art’, ‘Street Art’ or ‘Urban Art’. None of these terms satisfactorily represent our artists’ work and so we prefer not to pigeonhole it. Some of our artists have a background in graffiti and street art, but not exclusively – all however, are influenced by society’s prevailing subculture where there are few rules and anything is possible. StolenSpace lets in the life-giving vitality of this environment that has long been overlooked by galleries and museums.
